On behalf of the Richmond Promise, I am writing to invite you to participate in the 7th Annual Richmond Promise Scholar Celebration on Saturday, July 30th, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza. The event will take place outside on the plaza.
As you may be aware, the Richmond Promise was launched in 2016 as a community-wide post-secondary education access and success organization. Our work is dedicated to removing barriers to higher education and creating pathways to ensure Richmond students realize their full potential academically and professionally. Over 1900 Richmond Promise Scholars are currently pursuing their goals at 220 higher education institutions across the country and we are thrilled to welcome nearly 420 new scholars in our 2022 cohort. Our Scholar Celebration will honor these new scholars and send them off to college and CTE programs with the support of the entire Richmond community.
For our in-person return to the Scholar Celebration since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, our organization will energize our scholars for their journeys ahead by transforming Richmond’s Civic Center Plaza into a lively college quad. The event will be open to the public and will feature family-friendly activities, entertainment, food trucks, booths hosted by colleges, student life organizations, and community resources, and a ceremony recognizing our new cohort of postsecondary students.
We invite you to attend the Scholar Celebration, and we ask that you share this invitation with your neighbors, family, and friends. This will be a great event for community members of all ages, especially young people in elementary, middle, or high school grades so they can see their older peers moving forward in their education. If you have any questions about the Scholar Celebration or the Richmond Promise overall, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thanks so much for your support. We look forward to sharing this great community experience with you.
