We see a day when all children in Richmond have access to high-quality education, excel from high school to higher education, attain a postsecondary degree or certification, thrive in the field of their choice, and become a leader of positive change in their community and the world.
Launched in January 2016, the Richmond Promise is a community-wide college success initiative to build a college graduating culture in Richmond, CA. The Richmond Promise was created with the belief that all Richmond students should have the opportunity to develop their skills and reach their full potential, regardless of race, income level, or personal background.
Through a college scholarship, collaborative cross-sector partnerships, and supportive programming, the Richmond Promise aims to ensure all students in Richmond excel to and through higher education, reach their career goals, and become change-making leaders in the Richmond community.
We work to increase the number of students, particularly low-income students and students who are the first in their family to go to college who:
- Are exposed to college resources, role models and experiences throughout K-16
- Successfully transition to an accredited university/college directly from high school
- Successfully transfer from community college to 4-year university
- Complete an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or career + technical education
College Promise initiatives are local, collaborative cross-sector initiatives that aim to address barriers to college through scholarships and wrap-around supports for students who live within a local geographic area. Our strategy rests on effective and long-term collaboration with institutional and community partners to address 4 main barriers to college success, and couple the scholarship with the critical wraparound supports we know can make a difference.
FOR OUR CUSTOMERS
We Believe In Honesty. Boatyards have gotten a bad reputation for being surprisingly expensive. We proudly offer fixed-price quotations for all work performed on all of our customers’ vessels, from bottom paint to commissioning. You’ll never be surprised by an invoice again. We’ve Implemented A Comprehensive Quality Control System. Unlike other yards in the area, all of our vessels must pass extensive quality control checklists prior to departure. Your project passes through several QC checkpoints to make sure no item on your written work order is overlooked and all work is performed to the highest quality standards available.
Our facility is equipped with the leading water filtration system available for commercial applications. Aquip is a patented, enhanced media filtration system for industrial stormwater and collection applications. This stormwater treatment removes fine particulates and dissolved pollutants in a simple and easy-to-use configuration. Unlike some boat repair facilities along the San Francisco Bay, this system assures you that our waters are kept clean with best technologies available.
We are dedicated to the safety of our crew and the vessels we service. In all aspects of our work we remain leaders in accident prevention through safety protocols and daily, weekly and monthly safety checklists.

Founded in 1909 in response to the ongoing violence against Black people around the country, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation.
The Richmond, California Branch was chartered in 1944. Since that time, it has been led by those committed and dedicated volunteer souls, who many times sacrificed much, for us to be brought thus far along the way. The way, many times, has been clogged with injustices in politics, education, social services, and economic inequalities. However, as the above objectives states, we will continue to lead the charge against such injustices against people of color wherever it may occur in our City of Pride and Purpose.
Since 2000, Bay Crossings Magazine has embodied the newly developing trend “Waterfront Hip” by delivering timely, relevant news to the waterfront community. Packed with regional news, reference material and local lore, Bay Crossings Magazine is sought after by locals and tourists alike for advice on worthy spots to spend their time and money. Bay Crossings Magazine has remained true to its mission of focusing on the needs and wants of our readers and the issues they feel are important, while they live, work and play along our historic bay front. Each new issue reinforces our loyal and dedicated audience, as they consistently pick up Bay Crossings Magazine every month.
We are a privately owned company. Our editorial goal is to advocate a comprehensive regional ferry service specifically and celebrate waterfront life, work and play generally.
