The Bay Area Rescue Mission is hosting the “Heart of Rescue’ event at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond from 2 – 4pm. If you saw the movie ‘Coach Carter’, you will want to join us so you can hear the real Coach Carter, who is our keynote speaker. As the Richmond High School basketball coach, he became the focus of the movie after he made a controversial decision in 1999 to emphasize education over basketball – forfeiting games until grades improved, even when the team made the play-offs.
Coach Carter now lives in Texas but he is flying in for our event.
The ‘Heart of Rescue’ event is designed to raise awareness about the homeless crisis and what we, as individuals can do to help, as well as the role of the Bay Area Rescue Mission in addressing the problem.
The event is free but participants need to sign up in advance on Eventbright (mainly for our planning purposes). We’ll have great appetizers and live music.
